Week 2 · Day 2.
The first words have gone quiet today, just a couple of them, the ones that carry the most. Read what is left, then fill the gaps out loud before you check the key.
Then lean in, because today I get to show you a secret that has been hiding on the page of every Bible you have ever opened.

🔤 THE WORD
Open any Bible to this psalm and look closely at the first word after "The."
LORD. All capital letters. It is like that in Genesis, in Exodus, thousands of times across the Old Testament. You have seen it your whole life and maybe never asked why.
Here is why. It is a signal from the translators.
Wherever you see LORD in small capitals, the Hebrew underneath is not a title at all. It is a name. The personal, covenant name of God, the one he gave Moses at the burning bush.
Four Hebrew letters, YHWH, so holy that Jewish readers would not even pronounce it out loud.
Now put that back into your six words.
David did not write "a god is my shepherd." He did not even write "God is my shepherd."
He used the name. The One who told us what to call him, the One on a first-name basis with his people, that One is my shepherd.
Which means the verse you are carrying opens with something astonishing: the highest name there is, volunteering for the humblest job there is.
Every time you say "The LORD," you are not saying a title. You are answering someone who introduced himself first.
🔍 TODAY'S PHRASE
"...is..."
Two letters, easy to skip. Do not skip them.
Is. Present tense. Not "the LORD was my shepherd," back in Bible times, when things like that still happened. Not "the LORD will be my shepherd," someday, once you get your act together.
Is. This morning. While the coffee is still hot.
The shortest word in the verse is the one that puts the whole thing in your Tuesday.
🕯️ WITNESS
Wales, 1800. A fifteen-year-old girl named Mary Jones had spent six years saving every small coin she could earn. Knitting, tending hens, minding children.
She wanted one thing: a Bible of her own. The nearest place to buy one was a town called Bala, twenty-six miles away over the hills.
So she walked. Twenty-six miles, much of it barefoot to save her shoes, over the Welsh hills, to buy the Book with the Name in it.
The minister in Bala was so moved by her walk that he could not stop telling the story.
It spread until it helped spark the founding of the Bible Society, which has since placed Scripture in hundreds of millions of hands, in hundreds of languages, around the world.
One girl wanted the Book that badly. And the ripples of her one morning walk are still arriving in inboxes like yours, this morning.
