Week 1 · Day 1. John 3:16.
Today there are no blanks. Just the whole verse in front of you, the way it has sat in front of people for two thousand years.
Read it slowly, two or three times. Then come with me, because I want to show you the room where it was first said. It is not the room you think.
🕊️ FADING VERSE
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

🌙 THE SCENE
You have seen this verse everywhere. Billboards. Stadium signs. Coffee mugs.
So here is the surprise: it was never meant for a crowd.
It was first spoken at night, in private, to exactly one person. His name was Nicodemus. He was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews, a teacher at the very top of his world, the kind of man other people came to with their questions.
And he could not sleep.
Something about Jesus would not let him go. So this important, careful man slipped through the streets of Jerusalem after dark, past the lamplit doorways, up to where Jesus was staying, because he had to ask his questions somewhere no one would see him asking.
Jesus did not turn him away. He did not make him wait until morning. He sat with him in the dark and gave him the plainest, biggest sentence ever spoken.
The verse you are carrying this week is not a slogan. It is one half of a private conversation. Which means when you read it, you are not standing in a stadium.
You are sitting where Nicodemus sat. It was always meant to be heard one person at a time.
This morning, that person is you.
🔍 TODAY'S PHRASE
"For God..."
Two words in, and something wonderful has already happened.
Look who moves first. Before you have done anything this morning, before you had done anything ever, God is already the subject of the sentence. Already loving, already giving, already acting.
Most mornings open with everything you have to do. This verse opens with what God already did.
This week is not about learning lines. It is about drawing closer to God through his own words. And here is the beautiful part: he closed most of the distance first. It starts with him, not with you.
